Loving where we live

Welcome from Mayor Dan Vande Griend.

It’s no secret, we love where we live… And it shows. It shows in where we have been, where we are now and where we want to be. Today, we get to show the world in a new way the heart and soul of the Alton we know and love.

On behalf of the City Council, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the City of Alton.

Located in the northwest corner of Iowa, we are a small rural town adjacent to the intersection of Highway 10 and four lane Highway 60. We are a small and growing community that offers its residents a great opportunity to live, work, worship, play and raise a family. We have healthcare for all ages, primary and secondary education, and other opportunities for social interaction.

Alton is home to the oldest 9-hole golf course in Iowa. Alton is a river town which includes a County Park with recreational pond and disc golf, two city parks including a pool, a softball/baseball complex, and walking/biking trail.

For those of you who are perspective residents, we are a diverse growing community with a new industrial park and housing area. If you choose to visit, you will understand why “Love Where You Live” is befitting for those of us who live here.

As Mayor I welcome you to our city, and invite you to discover our quality of life and experience why we “Love Where You Live.”

Sincerely,

Dan Vande Griend
